A local anesthetic will be applied. You may feel the treatment, but you will not feel any pain or discomfort. It is safe for you to take aspirin before or after treatment to minimize the risk of any pain after treatment. You can also ice treatment sites to speed up the cellular rejuvenation process.
There are multiple steps to the PRP process. Your blood must be drawn and placed into a centrifuge to be processed. The processing involves cleaning the blood so it is ready to be transferred and injected. It doesn’t take long to draw your blood or run it through the centrifuge. The most “time-consuming” part of the appointment is the therapy itself, which can take 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

A minimally invasive procedure, the PRP treatment can be completed in less than 60 minutes. Your blood will be drawn and placed in a special machine, circulating at high speeds to separate the platelets from the remainder of the blood. A local anesthetic is used on the scalp, and the concentrated platelet-rich plasma is reintroduced into parts of your scalp that have hair thinning. Microneedling is completed on the scalp to create micro-injuries into the skin. This activates PRF and enables it to penetrate deep into the skin. There are minimal limitations or restrictions to this procedure. Some patients experience redness and mild swelling and tenderness in the treated areas. These symptoms may last for up to 48 hours, with the greatest benefits visible around four to six months. Results will continue to appear for up to one year after treatment. PRP is not a permanent hair loss solution, so repeating treatment every 12-18 months is recommended to maintain results. PRP does not induce new hair follicles to grow in places that are already bald. It reverses the miniaturization of hair follicles so they can produce thicker, healthier, and longer hair fibers.
