Hormone Optimization for Men & Women

Hormone Optimization

Feeling off is not something you have to accept as normal.

You Do Not Feel Like Yourself

Something has shifted and you cannot quite name it.

You are exhausted in a way sleep does not fix. Your mood is shorter than it used to be. Your weight has changed despite doing nothing differently. Your motivation is gone, your libido is gone, and you have started wondering whether this is just what your forties or fifties feel like.

Maybe you brought it up and were told your labs looked normal.

Hormones decline with age, and they affect nearly every system in your body: energy, metabolism, sleep, mood, cognition, muscle mass, bone density, and sexual health. When they fall out of balance, everything feels harder. That is not a personality change or a character flaw. It is measurable, and it is treatable.

Symptoms We Treat

Hormone imbalance presents differently in men and women, though the overlap is significant.

In Women

  • Fatigue that rest does not resolve
  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Weight gain, especially around the midsection
  • Mood swings, irritability, anxiety, or low mood
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
  • Poor sleep
  • Low libido
  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort during intimacy
  • Thinning hair or skin changes
  • Irregular cycles during perimenopause
  • Loss of muscle tone

In Men

  • Persistent fatigue and low energy
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Increased body fat, particularly abdominal
  • Low libido and erectile changes
  • Depressed mood, irritability, or apathy
  • Brain fog and reduced mental sharpness
  • Poor sleep quality
  • Reduced motivation and drive
  • Decreased bone density

If several of these sound familiar, testing is the logical next step. Symptoms alone do not tell us what is happening, but they tell us where to look.

Laboratory Evaluation Comes First

We do not treat hormones based on symptoms alone, and you should be cautious about anyone who does.

Comprehensive testing establishes what your levels actually are, identifies which hormones are involved, and rules out other conditions that produce the same symptoms. Thyroid dysfunction, vitamin deficiency, and metabolic issues all mimic hormone imbalance, and treating the wrong thing wastes your time.

Testing may include:

  • Total and free testosterone
  • Estradiol and progesterone
  • Complete thyroid panel
  • DHEA and cortisol
  • Metabolic and liver function
  • Blood count
  • Vitamin D and B12
  • Additional markers based on your symptoms and history

Your results, read alongside your symptoms, determine whether treatment makes sense and which approach fits.

We offer full lab panels with discounted cash-pay pricing.

Delivery Methods

Different people do better on different delivery methods, which is why we offer several rather than defaulting to one.

Biote Pellet Therapy

Small pellets inserted just under the skin, typically in the hip, that release hormones steadily as your body needs them. This is the option most patients ask about by name.

The advantage is consistency. Because the pellet releases continuously rather than in doses, you avoid the peaks and drops that come with creams and injections, and most patients describe the effect as more stable. It is also the lowest-maintenance option, since there is nothing to remember daily.

Frequency: every three to five months for women, every four to six months for men, varying by individual

Suits: patients who want consistency and would rather not manage daily dosing

Injections

Administered on a set schedule, either in office or at home after training. Injections allow precise dose control and straightforward adjustment.

Frequency: typically weekly or biweekly

Suits: patients who want dosing flexibility and are comfortable with injections

Creams and Topicals

Applied daily to the skin, absorbed steadily through the day. Easy to adjust and easy to discontinue.

Frequency: daily

Suits: patients starting treatment who want to begin conservatively, or who prefer no needles

Capsules

Oral hormone therapy taken daily. Familiar, simple, and appropriate for certain hormones and situations.

Frequency: daily

Suits: patients who prefer oral medication

Troches

Dissolved under the tongue, absorbing directly into the bloodstream and bypassing the digestive system. Compounded, which allows individualized dosing.

Frequency: typically daily or twice daily

Suits: patients who need customized dosing or want an alternative to capsules

Which is right for you depends on your labs, your hormones, your lifestyle, and how you respond. Your provider will recommend a starting point and adjust from there. Switching methods is common and completely reasonable if the first choice does not suit you.

What to Expect

Consultation and history

Your provider reviews your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and goals. This conversation matters as much as the labs, because it establishes what you are actually trying to change.

Laboratory testing

Comprehensive panels are ordered based on your symptoms and history.

Reviewing your results

Your provider walks you through what the numbers show, what they mean, and whether treatment is appropriate. If your labs point somewhere other than hormones, you will be told that.

Follow-up and adjustment

Hormone therapy is not set and forget. Levels are rechecked, doses are adjusted, and your plan changes as your body responds. Early follow-up is more frequent, settling into a routine schedule once you are stable.

Results

Most patients notice changes in energy and sleep within the first few weeks. Mood, libido, and mental clarity often follow. Changes in body composition and muscle take longer, generally three to six months.

Am I a Candidate?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Have several symptoms from the lists above
  • Are in perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause
  • Are a man experiencing age-related decline in energy, drive, or muscle mass
  • Have been told your labs are normal but still feel unwell
  • Want your symptoms evaluated properly rather than dismissed
  • Are willing to complete laboratory testing before treatment

When hormone therapy is not appropriate

Hormone therapy is not suitable for everyone. Certain cancer histories, particularly hormone-sensitive cancers, active blood clotting disorders, untreated cardiovascular disease, pregnancy, and some liver conditions all rule it out or require careful evaluation first.

Your provider will review your full history, and if hormone therapy is not right for you, you will get a direct answer along with whatever alternatives exist.

It is also worth saying plainly that hormone therapy is not a solution to everything. It will not compensate for poor sleep, chronic stress, or a lack of movement, and patients who see the best results address those alongside treatment rather than instead of it.

Pricing and Insurance

Cost depends on your delivery method, your dose, and how frequently you are seen. Pellet therapy is priced per insertion, while creams, capsules, troches, and injections are priced by prescription and follow-up schedule.

Insurance coverage varies considerably. Some plans cover hormone therapy with a documented diagnosis, some cover laboratory work but not treatment, and some exclude it entirely. Your provider’s office can help you understand what applies.

Payment and financing

We accept cash, credit cards, PatientFi, Cherry, and CareCredit.

PatientFi is our preferred financing partner and the application takes just a few minutes.

HSA and FSA funds may be applied to medically eligible services depending on your individual plan. Hormone optimization and pellet therapy often qualify, but coverage varies, so please confirm with your plan administrator.

We also offer full lab panels with discounted cash-pay pricing.

Why Choose Absolute for Hormone Optimization in Georgia

Hormone therapy done well is unglamorous. It requires proper testing, honest interpretation, appropriate dosing, and the willingness to keep adjusting until a patient actually feels better. It is considerably easier to hand out a standard dose and move on.

Every program here is led by a Certified Nurse Practitioner with physician supervision, with treatment built around your labs and your symptoms rather than a default protocol.

Lisa Mobley Mullis, FNP-C, founded the practice in 2009 after years in Internal Medicine convinced her that patients, particularly women, deserved more than a prescription and a shrug. Alongside Kalie M. Bush, FNP-C, and Elizabeth Crumpler, FNP-C, our providers work across hormone health, weight management, and wellness, which matters because these systems are connected.

Why patients choose us

  • Five delivery methods, so treatment fits how you actually live
  • Comprehensive laboratory evaluation before any treatment
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner-led care with physician supervision
  • Ongoing monitoring and dose adjustment rather than set and forget
  • Weight loss, peptide therapy, and thyroid care under the same roof
  • Three convenient Georgia locations in Griffin, Newnan, and Forsyth

What Our Patients Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions About Hormone Optimization

How do I know if my hormones are the problem?

You do not, until you test. Symptoms point in a direction, but fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, and low mood have several possible causes, including thyroid dysfunction and vitamin deficiency. Comprehensive labs tell you what is actually happening, which is why we start there.

My doctor said my labs were normal. Why do I still feel terrible?

This is one of the most common things we hear. Standard reference ranges are wide, and being technically within range is not the same as being at a level where you feel well. Your provider looks at where you fall within the range, at multiple hormones together rather than one in isolation, and at how that lines up with your symptoms.

What is Biote pellet therapy?

Small pellets inserted just under the skin, usually in the hip, that release hormones steadily over several months. The main advantage is consistency, since you avoid the peaks and drops that come with daily or weekly dosing, and there is nothing to remember day to day.

How often do pellets need replacing?

Typically every three to five months for women and every four to six months for men, though it varies by individual. Your provider will track your levels and how you feel to determine your schedule.

Is hormone therapy safe?

For appropriately selected patients with proper monitoring, hormone therapy has a well-established safety record. Risk depends heavily on your individual history, which is why the evaluation matters. Certain conditions, particularly hormone-sensitive cancer histories and clotting disorders, make it inappropriate. Your provider will review your history thoroughly before recommending anything.

Are supplements required?

No. Supplements are recommended based on your needs and any deficiencies your labs reveal, not as a mandatory package. Some patients use several, some use none.

How long before I feel better?

Many patients notice improvements in energy and sleep within a few weeks. Mood, libido, and mental clarity often follow. Changes in body composition and muscle mass take longer, usually three to six months.

Do I have to stay on it forever?

Not necessarily, and that is a conversation with your provider rather than a decision made upfront. Some patients continue long term because they feel meaningfully better. Others treat for a defined period through a transition like perimenopause. Your plan can change.

Can men get hormone therapy here?

Yes. We treat both men and women. Male hormone optimization addresses testosterone decline and its effects on energy, muscle mass, body composition, mood, and libido, with the same testing and monitoring approach.

Can hormone therapy help with weight loss?

Sometimes significantly. Hormone imbalance can make weight loss considerably harder, and correcting it often removes a barrier patients have been fighting for years. It is not a weight loss treatment on its own, but it is frequently part of why weight loss has not worked. We offer both under the same roof for that reason.

Which delivery method is best?

There is no universally best option. Pellets suit patients who want consistency and low maintenance. Injections allow precise control. Creams and troches allow easy adjustment. Your provider will recommend based on your labs, your hormones, and your preferences, and switching later is straightforward.

Does insurance cover it?

It varies widely. Some plans cover treatment with a documented diagnosis, some cover only lab work, and some exclude it entirely. Our office can help you understand your plan.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on delivery method, dose, and follow-up frequency. Your provider will review pricing at your consultation.
